Usually, when you are thinking of staying so close to the Costa del Sol,  it makes most people imagine glorious hot sunshine - but to those in the know it offers some of the best skiing and snowboarding terrain in the country. Not to mention the alpine style hotels in Sierra Nevada being just as comparable in their alpine style to those in the Alps; just without the cost!

Spain is the second most mountainous country in Europe only beaten by the Swiss, and has lots of ski resorts spread across the country, including the Pyrenees (Andorra), Teruel (near Barcelona), near Madrid, and down to the Mediterranean at Granada. The mountains have a mean altitude of 800m (2500ft) so there is lots of white powder and piste ready for your holiday during the winter season! The Sierra Nevada pistes and back country are fronted by the glacier Veleta Peak, Spain's third highest point.
